Ballymoyle Stud Farm & Livery opened in August 2002 and is owned and managed by Alex Moores.
Being a horselover, I spent all my school holidays (nearly 10 years) helping out in an equestrian Centre in return for riding lessons, gaining a lot of experience about horse care. After doing my Leaving Certificate, I went to college to qualify to “British Horse Society” standards (BHS). After completion I returned to the equestrian Centre as a qualified instructor in horse riding.

After 2 years there, it was time for a change and I accepted a job offer as groom with a Polo team. This brought me across Europe for 4 to 5 months. After our return I became manager of the yard were I also gained experience with sport horses.
At this stage I purchased my very own horse. He was 2½ years old and 15.3 hh.
Now he’s a 16 year old and 16.3hh. He has hunted, showjumped, competed in dressage and showing classes and has won many rosettes.
At this stage I decided to look out for my own place. I spent 2 years searching for the right property, until I found a green site in 6 divisions which later became “Ballymoyle Stud Farm & Livery Yard”.
I started to build sheds, 4 stables and a 20m x 20m sand arena. Since then we have extended the arena to 40m x 40m and added an additional 12 stables.

At present we are breeding Irish Draughts, Sporthorses and TB’s. Which are kept until broken and riding and competed in their respective diciplines.
During the summer months we compete mainly at the agricultural shows, showing either ‘in hand’ or ‘under saddle’, during August the hunters are brought in and prepared for the upcoming season.
